To deploy the created and archived files with the Client installer(s)

The Users of OTP server have access to the installers from the server
Home page. The "Here" link brings them to
the downloads page.
The link wording can be changed too according to the settings of
the OTP server owner. It can be saved to the file download-PDF-ConnectInclude.html,
and copied to the folder <%Install_DIR%>\webapps\otp\public\.
The text should be done in XHTML format, for instance:
<font color="#8060DE">To upload production ready PDF
files please use our TaskForce PDF-Connect installers. They can be
downloaded from <a href="/pdfconnect/download">HERE</a></font>
The link from <a href="/pdf-connect/download">HERE</a>
points to the folder, where the prepared installers are automatically
copied to at the time of their deploying into the OTP system.
The list of available Client Installers is displayed to OTP system

Question:
Do I need to uninstall the existing PDF Connect printer on my PC before
installing the new, or will the installer overwrite it?
|
| |
Answer:
My experience has been that if you "un-install" and then
"re-install" it
will cause the system to require a new license when jobs come in from this
client, HOWEVER if you just install over the previous install then
everything works great and no new license is required.
|
|
Question:
I cannot select a "Client" from a company in "Add Job".
I'm running Win 2003 server on my new machine.
|
| |
Answer:
The default install of Win Server 2003 leaves IE 6 with the High
Security enabled. This security setting disables JavaScript and that
is the cause of the problem. Set browser security as required.
|
|
Question:
Once approval on a page is given, is the page locked to stop others from making amends after approval.
|
| |
Answer:
Once entire job is approved, no more proofs can be uploaded. Also,
nobody is able to add notes/comments or delete proofs.
When particular proof pages have been approved but the entire job has
not, it is possible to add more proofs to such job, add notes and
remove proofs.

Question:
PDF-Connect, what is this and is it built in to OTP with no extra costs.
|
| |
Answer:
PDF Connect is a extra feature that allows end users to print PDF
files directly to the OTP server with or without client-side
preflighting.
You have to order PDF Connect additionally. Then you should receive
and install PDF Connect client installer using the administrative
interface of OTP server.
Once installed the link appears automatically on the main OTP page and
your customers ca start downloading it from this link. After your
customer has downloaded and installed PDF Connect client he gets a new
system printer. Any application may print directly to such printer.
When print job is sent it is converted to PDF format and preflighted,
then sent automatically to the OTP server.
To use PDF Connect you have to purchase a special dongle and get a
serial number.

Question:
Does the Full non Demo version have any facilities that are NOT available in Demo Version?
|
| |
Answer:
No, Demo version is actually a Full version, but it simply expires
within a 30 day period. After that you may either purchase the license
or acquire additional evaluation license, if you need more time for
your evaluation.
The only difference is a PDF Connect feature - OTP installers aks for
the PDF Connect serial number, if no serial number is given, OTP will
be installed with no PDF Connect support, so if you'll decide to try
PDF Connect as well, you have to reinstall OTP and provide the valid
serial number. However an updater can be generated that would enable
PDF Connect without re-installation.

Question:
The quality of PDF, which have been created by OTP Delta
Plugin, looks not quit right. The text looks extremely bitmapped. What are there the
optimum quality settings for the OTP Delta plugin?
|
| |
Answer:
The value of Output Resolution is usually set at 300 DPI.
This is the highest value for online proofing. However, for CT image data other resolution
will be internally used. Its value is calculated using Output Resolution
and the value of CT factor parameter.
If this value is 2, image data will be produced at 150 DPI. If its value is 40, the resolution
of image data will be about 7 DPI. This can be a cause of problems.
There is also a setting - RGB for the color space for the PDF file, and for best reproduction it should be set to CMYK.
Next, you should check the Compression option and find out how that is set.
Lastly the settings should have both JPEG and PDF enabled so that both types of
files are produced. Use the JPEG setting producing at about 100 DPI in RGB (factor of 3) and
PDF at 300 DPI CMYK with a CT factor of 2 (150 dpi image data). Use JPEG compression for
the PDF with a quality setting of 100.
