OTPproof conversion utility
OTP system has an internal converter OTPproof that generates low resolution PDF and JPEG
files from the Delta jobs.
We use the most efficient and economical way to produce 1.3 PDF and PDF/X files from your Delta rip.
Lucid's proprietary conversion system translates data into 1.3 PDF and PDF/X file format from the same Delta
language that has been used to rip and trap the original input page. No other conversion systems currently on
the market are capable of such direct conversion of Delta RIP data into 1.3 PDF and PDF/X file format. Our special
coding technique also reduces file size compared to a full resolution bitmapped PDF created from Delta.
Our raster PDF files have a standard Adobe-defined method for handling spot colors, DeviceN colorspace,
which is supported by any PS3 or PDF 1.3 compatible workflow. This method also provides full proof capabilities
to CMYK proof devices and onscreen preview using Adobe Acrobat and other standard tools.
OTPproof converter includes the ability to make JPEG images of your Delta jobs. You can proof
ripped and trapped jobs from your Heidelberg Delta RIP using ICC color matching remotely or
on any Windows NT Printer.
You are also provided with a variety of options to modify the image: rotate, crop, mirror
and set final resolution different from that of the source page.

OTPproof converter can be shipped as a stand alone application or as an integrated part of the
application.
Configuring OTPproof does not differ within these two implementations, neither the results do.
To use the built in OTPproof please check the box "Use built-in OTPproof" and then click the button
"Configure OtpProof". OTPproof converts DeltaList files into low-res PDF and JPEG files.
You can create both
files simultaneously or select one of the desired formats for output.
The dialog shows possible conversion settings.
Common group defines the options related to both output formats. These are the settings for Rotation,
Mirror, Cropping, Resolution and AntiAliasing.
OTPproof creates some temporary files when processing certain tasks and these files can be quite large.
By default the system temporary folder TEMP is used. But if your system temporary folder is located on a
disk where free space is low OTPproof can fail not being able to place its temporary files and you might
want to define special folder on the drive with much space for its temporary files. To do so, uncheck
the box "Use Default TEMP" and click on the button "Set TEMP"
to set the path to the folder.
OTPproof uses a new method of PDF files creation. It provides for better color rendering
and reduces
the output files size. But the quality of the thin elements and letters gets worse.
If you need fine quality of these elements for your proofing you should enable
the "AntiAliasing" option.
It will improve the text and thin elements rendering and preserve the color scheme but will substantially
increase the output files size.
Separate options for generating PDF and JPEG files can be defined in their boxes.
For both formats
you can set to create Separations and represent separations in Black.
JPEG generation options include creation of page's thumbnails. They are processed by the OTP
server
and show the view of the job (or page) in the OTP Jobs List. Note please, that if you select the option
"Output Color Space" = CMYK for JPEG files their thumbnails cannot be created and a message box will
prompt you about it. In the OTP Jobs List such jobs are represented by a special icon that does not
relate to the contents of the page. Moreover, such JPEG files cannot be opened in the browser and you
have to use any special application like Photoshop to view them. This is an Internet Explorer
limitation.
For a multi-page job every page in JPEG format is created in a separate file and it has a
set of separations. For a multi-page job its PDF output can be selected in "Output Pages in Multiple
Files". Check this box to create every page in a separate file where Composite view and Separations
will be combined. Uncheck it to set one PDF file for all pages in the job.
"Image Factor" option for the PDF files generation allows to set different resolutions
for image
and line work data to reduce the file size. It is applicable only for the Delta files with image
mask information. Set Image Factor to 1 if you don't want the resolution reduction to achieve
better quality of output text.

In DeltaList files the colors are defined by symbolic names.
Special Ink Tables are used in order to refer
them to the CMYK equivalents for computer presentation.
Ink Table is a file where all standard PANTONE
inks are listed with their CMYK equivalent values. Such Ink Table file contains in the installer and
is placed into the application's working directory. You don't have to execute any actions to set up
this default table with the OTPproof converter.
Often the Delta users want to define their own colors and insert them into the
Ink Table used by the Delta RIP. If you want to use your Delta Ink Table with OTPproof
converter you can add it to the list of Ink Tables clicking on the "Ink Tables" button.
Press "Add" and select the Ink Table
that you want to use. You can add any number of your Ink Tables.
Please note that the application scans the tables from top to bottom in the list. As soon as
the color has been found in a table it is used and no further search occurs.
